Simone Biles

Simone Arianne Biles (/sI’moUn ‘baI@lz14 March 1997, [4]) is an American gymnast who is artistic. Biles has won seven Olympic medals tied with Shannon Miller for the most Olympic medals for an American gymnast, and she is equal to ninth overall. With 25 World Championship medals won, she is the most decorated gymnast from the history of the Gymnastics World Championships. Many believe she to be the best gymnast of all time. In 2022, Biles was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Joe Biden. Biles was awarded gold medals during the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Summer Olympics. She also won bronze medals in balance beam as well as floor, all-around, and vault. Biles was part of the United States team known as the "Final Five". But, Biles pulled out of most of the contest due to struggles with "the twisties", which is temporary loss of air balance awareness. Biles won an Olympic silver medal for the US team, and a bronze medal in the balance beam. The team was highly praised for her partial withdrawal, perseverance, and focus on safety, mental, and mental health. She's also an all-around champion five times over, World all-around champion (2013-2015, 2018-2019), five-time World floor exercise champion (2013-2015, 2018-2019) and three-time World balance beam champion (2014-2015 and 2019), two-time World vault champion (2018-2019) A seven-time United States national all-around champion (2013-2016, 2018-2019, 2021), and a member of the gold-medal winning American teams competing in the 2014, 2015 2018 and 2019 World Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. She is also three-time World silver medalist (2013 2014 on vault, 2018-2019 on uneven bars, 2018-2019 on uneven), and a three-time World bronze medalist (1915 on vault, 2013 on balance beam, and 2018-2019 on vault). Biles is the world's most decorated gymnast (25) and the World's most gold-medalled (19). Biles has now surpassed Vitaly Scherbo, who holds the record for 23 World medals. Biles won both 24th and 25th gold medals at the 2019 Stuttgart competition in Stuttgart. Biles holds the record for having the highest number of all-around World titles (5). She's the sixth female to be awarded both an individual and a team title in the Olympics or World Championships. Biles is the 10th American female gymnast, and the first American female gymnast, to win the World medal for every event and was also the first gymnast from a female since Daniela Silivas (1988), to be awarded a medal at every Olympic Games or World Championships. Biles was born on the 14th of March 1997, in Columbus, Ohio, the third of four siblings.Her birth mother, Shanon Biles, was incapable of caring for Simone or her other children - Adria, Ashley, and Tevin. All four were in and out foster care. In the year 2000, Biles' maternal grandfather, Ron Biles, and his second wife, Nellie Cayetano Biles began temporarily caring for Shanon's children in the northern Houston suburb of Spring, Texas, after finding out that his grandchildren been in foster care. In 2003, the couple had officially adopted Simone and her younger sister Adria. Ron's sister Shanon's aunt Harriet adopted the two oldest kids.
