In 2017, Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it became the most-streamed song in just the space of six months. The song is a blend of pop music and reggaeton did not just bring attention to reggaeton but it also brought attention to Latin music more generally. Billboard's Top 100 featured two songs in Spanish mostly, and four tracks in 2016. The popularity of Despacito peaked in the year 2017. In 2020, 41 mostly Spanish songs are expected to make it into the top 100. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish-language version in 2017. In the year following, the most well-known artists began collaborating with reggaeton acts. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to create MIA (2018) and Madonna was a part of Medellin together with Maluma (2019). In 2020, several Reggaeton musicians were complaining about the trend of the genre towards the mainstream. However, a younger generation, such as Rauw Alejandro was determined to maintain the development. The incorporation of elements from electronic dance music, and different styles was an accepted method.
